Paul D. Baker, withdrew his prior plea of not guilty and entered a plea of guilty on Friday at the Adams County Circuit Court due to unavailability of the Superior Courtroom.
Adams County Prosecutor Christopher Harvey said that Baker, a 49-year-old male from Monroeville, pled guilty to the amended charge of criminal trespass, a Class D Felony. The Court accepted the plea and found Baker guilty.
The parties involved filed a plea agreement and Baker was fined $166 in court costs.
Baker was sentenced to a term of 180 days at the Adams County Law Enforcement Center, but will be serving this sentence on home detention through the Adams County Community Corrections office. Baker will receive credit for three actual days served prior to the posting bond.
Baker was placed on home detention for a period of 174 days and will be under the supervision of Adams County Community Corrections, said Harvey. The defendant shall pay costs and fees of the detention. In addition, Baker was ordered to pay the $1,044 plus an additional $100 administrative fee for a total of $1,144 for the cost of electronic monitoring.
Baker will serve the executed sentence in full and has not been placed on probation.
Baker was said to have volunteered his services for the South Adams girls’ basketball team during the summer of 2011 and during the basketball season of 2011-2012.
At the time, Harvey had charged Baker with two counts of unlawful employment near children by a sexual predator. He was also charged with scouting a girls game at Adams Central (for South Adams) and was said to be present with the team during certain summer and seasonal practices.
Baker had been convicted of child molesting, a Class B Felony, in the Noble County Superior Court on Dec. 10, 2001 and is considered to be sexually violent predator, according to an Affidavit for Probable Cause released by Harvey, representing the Adams Superior Court.
