A steady flow individuals from the local business community visited the Geneva Library last week during a reception and information session to acquaint local business people with potential library assistance in business endeavors.
The event, which was part of last week’s observance of, “National Library Week,” was held at both the Geneva and Decatur Public Libraries.
“This is a celebration of our local businesses and an opportunity for the local library to inform local business people about the services we provide that could help them,” commented Kelly Ehinger, director of the Adams County Public Library System.
“The purpose of this is to highlight our available material of Education Reference Center, Small Business Reference Center, Reference USA and eBooks and audio books. These are a few of the tools available to help support business success,” said Ehinger.
Ehinger said that directories available at the libraries include the Harris Indiana Industrial Directory, Harris Indiana Services Directory, Indiana Business Directory and Indiana Manufacturing Directory.
Handbooks available to employers include Employment Benefits Guide, Employment Law Handbook, Indiana Guide to Monitoring Electronic Technology, Indiana Employer’s Guide for Wage and Hour Issues, Indiana Guide to Hiring and Firing, Indiana Guide to Preventing Workplace Harassment, Model Employees Policies for Indiana Employers and Safety and Health Guide for Indiana Businesses.
“The business community can search Indiana’s Online Research Library for full-text articles from business journals, magazines, newspapers and from other business materials,” said Ehinger. “There is a special guide to thousands of listings of live and print sources of information designed to facilitate the start-up and development of small businesses.”
In addition, Reference USA from Infogroup can help aid in a job search by giving access to more than 14 million employers.
“You can come to the library and use the business database to conduct research about industries and companies of interest to you,” Ehinger said.
Ehinger said when using ReferenceUSA, it is important to select the type of work you want to look for, select all the exact match and related matches that are of interest, select businesses of specific interest and research and preparing for any interview.
