Geneva hires new SRO officer

The Geneva Town Council held an end of the year meeting on Monday evening. The first order of business was to approve the hiring of the new Geneva Deputy Marshal who will be come the new School Resource Officer for South Adams.
Upon the recommendation of Town Marshal Rob Johnson, the council unanimously approved the hiring of Connor F. Bonesteel to replace Scott Dailey. Bonesteel has been a reserve deputy officer for the Geneva Police Department for two years. He began his duties on Thursday, January 2 and will be in the school when the students return from Christmas break on Monday, January 6.
Upon the request of clerk-treasurer Bill Warren, the council approved appropriations for funds that were overspent in 2013. Those funds include: General Fund - health insurance by $443.31; garage and motor by $10,283.01; park equipment by $427.59; police equipment by $4.16; PERF by $92.28; unemployment by $21.92; MVH Fund – health insurance by $583.53; and repairs by $1,395.68. Leftover funds of $16,800 in the general fund and $19,500 will also be re-appropriated into the 2014 budget.
The council approved the 2014 appointments council officers are president: Richard Clutter; vice-president: James Timmons; and council member: Doug Milligan; fire department chief: John Patch; assistant chief: Sam Bisel; and assistant chief: Gabe Schwartz; police department marshal: Rob Johnson; and chief deputy marshal: Bradley Schwartz; Geneva deputy clerk: Sally Burry; city attorney: Dave Baumgartner; park board – Bill Warren, Russ Flueckiger, Denise Yoder, Tony Davidson and Calvin Morgan; AC Economic Development Corp: Bill Warren; South Adams Trails: Clint Anderson and Jeff Brown; Geneva Plan Commission – Scott Wilkins, Dave Henderson, James Timmons, Doug Milligan, Richard Clutter, Arlen Mitchel, Andrew Briggs, Jim Fosnaugh and Chris Hawbaker; Geneva Board of Zoning Appeals – Lynn Burry, Kenny Schwartz, Eleanor Morris, Arlen Mitchel and Scott Wilkins.
They also approved the new Geneva Town Council meeting schedule. Meetings will continue to be at 6:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month, with the exception of April, May, July, and November. In these months, the meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month.
Finally, the board approved raising the salary of Scott Smith from the 2nd level to the 3rd level for 2014.
“He’s done an excellent job. I’d hate to lose him,” stated Warren.
