Major moves in store for two businesses

Family LifeCare and the First Bank of Berne announced this week plans to expand their current office space in a unique transaction that involves the First Bank of Berne location in downtown Berne. The transaction calls for the construction of a new First Bank of Berne operations center on the north edge of Berne. The Bank’s move to the new operations center will allow Family LifeCare to consolidate and relocate their Main Street and Water Street facilities to the existing First Bank of Berne location at 102 West Main Street in Berne.
Family LifeCare president and chief executive officer SueAnn Reynolds commented, “We are excited by the ability of our organization to grow and remain committed to the local community. Berne has been our headquarters and we are encouraged to continue our growth with the support of the Berne residents and leadership.”
Family LifeCare and First Bank of Berne have experienced growth in recent years creating the need for office space to accommodate additional employees and the increased level of business to serve their clients. Recently, both entities have been challenged by the lack of adequate office space to handle present and future growth. The existing Main Street Family LifeCare location will be remodeled to include a teller line and additional space to serve First Bank of Berne customers.
First Bank of Berne’s new operations center will be built on six acres of real estate located at the corner of Sprunger Street Extended and Heritage Trail in Berne.
Kent Liechty, president/CEO of First Bank of Berne, stated “This expansion opportunity has created beneficial opportunities for First Bank of Berne, Family LifeCare and the City of Berne. Construction of the First Bank of Berne operations center and the new jobs required to support our growth will have a favorable impact on the Berne economy.”
The new office construction and relocation for the organizations is expected to be complete by late summer 2014.
Berne Mayor Bill McKean also expressed his enthusiasm for the agreement.
“Seeing plans for new construction in the local area is very encouraging as this enhances our community while providing additional job opportunities from two growing organizations,” he said. “I appreciate their investment in the local community and their continued efforts to call Berne home.”
