Ol’ Man Winter visits area with shivering blast

Forecasts late last week concerning the season’s first snow proved to be more than correct Saturday afternoon and evening when several hours of heavy wet snow fell across Adams County dropping several inches of snow in parts of county, with the heaviest amounts tending to fall to the north. Weather specialist Rick McCoy said that he had a little concern all along about the possible strength of the storm. National Weather Service officials had predicted around an inch of snow at one point and then raised it to one to two inches and then raised it again as the intensity continued to build on Saturday afternoon. McCoy said that when he heard of amounts of 5-10 inches in some places to the west of here and the area of snow continuing to march across the state, he became more and more concerned.
