Large group attracted to Limberlost egg hunt

Berne resident Delaney Schwartz, daughter of Kyle and Kyann Schwartz, looked on intently on Saturday morning as Curt Burnette, naturalist and program director for the Limberlost State Historic Site, explained a display of eggs that are rarely seen. Jackson Kershner, of Cincinnati, also took in the display with Schwartz. Burnette had set up a display of eggs that are rarely viewed because they are either buried or hidden. “It’s not that they are all that rare, it’s just rare that we see them,” said Burnette. “A lot of them are buried and never visible to us.” Among the rarely-viewed eggs on the display board were snake, swan, lizard, red-eared slider turtle, emu, rhea, a model cardinal egg and alligator eggs. “This is meant to be much more than an Easter egg hunt,” said Burnette. “We want it to be an educational time and also a time that families can come together and share a learning experience in nature.” Several of those attending took time to r...
