Sprunger addresses crowd concerning church and state separation

Berne attorney Cory Sprunger spoke to over 50 people in the chapel of the First Mennonite Church on Thursday evening concerning separation of church and state. Sprunger geared his presentation for education and religious understanding on the local and national level. For over an hour, Sprunger held the crowd spellbound as he gave practical examples where the separation law could be applied and backed with various court cases and judicial reason. The attorney dealt with three clauses in his interpretation - establishment clause, free exercise clause and free speech clause. He also dealt with discussion concerning congressional statues and the Indiana Constitution. Sprunger said the “Lemon Test” concerning evaluation of state/religious matters is secular purpose, primary effect can’t enhance/inhibit religion and no excessive entanglement.
