Amos R. Schwartz, 80, of Monroe passed away at 5:45 a.m. on Sunday, April 27, 2014 at his residence. He was born on March 13, 1934 in Monroe to John J. and Rosina J. (Schwartz) Schwartz, Jr. He was married on February 9, 1956 to Maryann G. Schwartz.
He was a member of the Old Order Amish. He was a retired farmer.
He is survived by his wife of Monroe; seven sons, Willie R. (Fannie) Schwartz; and Amos R. (Edith) Schwartz, both of Decatur, John R. (Bertha) Schwartz of Means, Kentucky; Dan R. (Esther) Schwartz of Spencerville; Sam R. (Maryann) Schwartz of Berne; and Menno R.G. (Miriam) Schwartz; and Joe R.G. (Catherine) Schwartz, both of Monroe; two daughters, Mary R. (Dan E.) Schwartz of Berne; and Rosie R. (Dan D.) Wickey of Leonidas, Michigan; 67 grandchildren; and 87 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Enos R. Schwartz; and Levi R. Schwartz; one granddaughter; and one grandson.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday April 28 and 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday April 29 at his residence 1194 E. 100 S. Monroe. Funeral services will at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 30 also at his residence.
