Arthur D. Beeler
Arthur D. Beeler, 93, of Decatur passed away on Monday, November 18, 2013 at his residence. He was born on October 14, 1920 in Linn Grove to Fred W. and Amelia (Meshberger) Beeler. He was married on March 7, 1943 to Dorothy J. Hoffman.
He was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, where he served on many boards of the church and in the Praise and Fellowship Sunday school class. He was also a member of the Decatur Masonic Lodge F.&A.M., the Scottish Rite Valley Ft. Wayne and the American Legion Post #43. He was self-employed in the poultry business working for the Decatur Hatchery and was a rural mail carrier. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II from 1942-1945.
He is survived by his wife of Decatur; two sons, John F. (Denita) Beeler of Tavernier, Florida; and David L. (Jill) Beeler of Orlando, Florida; daughter, Susan K. (Bill) Brown of Nineveh; 8 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and a sister.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 22 at Woodcrest Porter Auditorium. A Masonic Service by #571 will follow visitation at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the 10:00 a.m. funeral service on Saturday, November 23 at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Decatur. Officiating will be Pastor Phil Emerson. Burial will be at Decatur Cemetery.
Military graveside rites will be provided by American Legion Post 43.
