Berniece Lehmann, 96, of Berne passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Swiss Village in Berne. She was born on June 28, 1916 in Adams County to Jeff and Sarah (Gilliom) Liechty. She was married on June 17, 1934 to Edison Lehmann.
She was a homemaker and a member of the First Mennonite Church, where she sang in the chancel choir and volunteered at the MCC Meat Canner. She also volunteered with her husband at the Children's Bible Mission Camp in Camp Gilead, Florida. She cherished her family and enjoyed sewing, baking, and playing games.
She is survived by four daughters, Shirley (Ed) Prentiss; and Karen (Roy) Lehman, both of Berne; Wanda (Paul) Smith of Columbus Grove, Ohio; and Arlene (Beth) Lehmann of Goshen; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; daughter, Donna Lehman; five sisters, Agnes Reinhard; Edith Gottschalk; Esther McCoy; Florence Lehman; and Helen Liechty; and brother, Clarence Liechty.
Visitation will be from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 5 at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home in Berne and one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. funeral service on Monday, May 6 at the First Mennonite Church in Berne. Officiating will be Pastor Jerry A. Flueckiger. Burial will be at MRE Cemetery in Berne.
