Betty J. Mayer, 87, formerly of Bluffton, passed away at 5:55 p.m. on Monday, March 25, 2013 at Swiss Village in Berne. She was born on December 5, 1925 in Ossian to Charles and Beaulah (Folk) Osborn. She was married on October 3, 1942 in Bluffton to Russell L. Mayer, Sr.
She was employed at Kitco Manufacturing and was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Church of Christ.
She is survived by two sons, Russell (Brenda) L. Mayer, Jr. of Ossian; and Timothy (Joyce) A. Mayer of Bluffton; three daughters, Helen (Lynn) Radcliff of Monroe; Peggy J. Mayer of Fort Wayne; and Doris K. Mayer of Bluffton; sister, Bessie Oliver of Bluffton; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on October 5, 1993; nine brothers, Dwight, Marion, Clifford, Paul, Charles Jr., Max, Jay, Dale, and Jessie Osborn; and three sisters, Mary Perry; Martha Zimmerman; and Ida Hankins.
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 29 and one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. funeral service on Saturday, March 30 at Goodwin-Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton. Officiating will be Chaplin Chris Thurow. Burial will be at Elm Grove Cemetery.
