Burnice J. Williams

Burnice J. Williams, 94, former Portland resident and Monroe resident for 10 years, passed away on Monday, August 19, 2013 at Swiss Village Retirement Center in Berne. She was born on December 22, 1918 in Randolph County to Samuel and Bessie (Booher) French. She was married on June 8, 1957 to Vernie J. Williams.
She graduated from Gov. I.P. Gray High School and attended Monroe United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker and worked at Jay Garment.
She is survived by her son, Jim G. Smith of Berne; daughter, Lucy (Larry) Atkinson of Monroe; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband on July 17, 1997.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 22 at Baird-Freeman Funeral Home in Portland. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 23 at the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Char Allen. Burial will be at Little Salamonia Cemetery in Portland.
