Darrel S. “Brownie” Brown, 92, of Geneva passed away at 3:15 a.m. on Monday, April 22, 2013 at the Chalet Village Health & Rehabilitation in Berne. He was born on Monday, May 31, 1920 in Jay County to Cary and Irene (Flesher) Brown. He was married on Thursday, November 20, 1941 in Geneva to Miriam R. ‘Mimi’ Green. She passed away on July 7, 1997.
He lived most of his life in Geneva. He graduated in 1938 from Governor I.P. Gray High School in Jay County. He served in the US Navy during WWII and retired from General Electric in Decatur. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite Valley both of Fort Wayne, Geneva Fire Department for over 50 years, Geneva Election Board, Geneva School Board, American Legion Post #43 in Decatur for 48 years, a life member of the Geneva V.F.W., and taught first aid in Adams County for 20 years.
He is survived by his son, Jeff S. Brown of Geneva.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Clarence Brown.
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 26 and two hours prior to the 3:00 p.m. funeral service on Saturday, April 27 at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home in Geneva. Burial will be at West Lawn Cemetery in Geneva.
Military rites will be conducted by the Veterans of Adams County.
