Dortha M. Hirschy, 89, of Decatur died on Sunday, February 19, 2012 at Woodcrest Nursing Center in Decatur. She was born on August 26, 1922 in Adams County to Forrest and Lessie (Watkins) Ray. She was married on December 6, 1941 to Wayne H. Hirschy.
She was a member of Monroe United Methodist Church. She retired in 1985 from CTS in Berne with 21 years of service.
She is survived by her husband of Decatur; three sons, Jerry (Alice) Hirschy of Monroe; David (Libby) Hirschy of Peoria, Illinois; and Keith (Gina) Hirschy of Pikeville, North Carolina; two daughters, Jo Ann (Bill) Strait of Monroe; and Phyllis (Jim) Stauffer of Yorktown; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Harold and Fritz Ray; two sisters, Margaret Beitler; and Helen Parrish; and a great-grandson, Drake Hill.
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 22 at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the 10:00 a.m. funeral service on Thursday, February 23 at Monroe United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Pastor Troy Green. Burial will take place at Spring Hill (Backesto) Cemetery.
