Doyle M. Winteregg, 85, of Berne passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Swiss Village in Berne. He was born on April 9, 1927 in Berne to Raymond and Pearl (Yoder) Winteregg. He was married on October 4, 1946 to Phyllis A. Hoffman.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Berne and was a trustee at church for many years. He served his country during WWII in the United States Navy. He was a co-owner of Poplar Drive-in for 21 years with his brother, LaMar. He was a member of the Decatur Masonic Lodge F & AM # 571, Scottish Rite Valley- Fort Wayne, was past Sovereign Prince of Darius Council Princes of Jerusalem 1985-87, 33 degree Mason in 1988, American Legion Post # 468 in Berne, Veteran of Foreign Wars # 6751, and was the Master of the Geneva Lodge #621 1974-1975.
He is survived by his wife of Berne; two sons, Terry L. (Cathy) Winteregg of Warsaw; and Randy W. (Diane) Winteregg of Berne; daughter, Linda A. Rasawehr of Woodburn; brother, Rev. Bryce (Karen) Winteregg of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, LaMar Winteregg
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 26 at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the 11:00 a.m. funeral service on Wednesday, June 27 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Berne. Officiating will be Pastor Mark Harris. Masonic service will be held at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 26 at the funeral home. Burial will take place at MRE Cemetery in Berne.
Military graveside rites will be provided by American Legion Post #468.
