Edith Elizabeth Miller, 89, of Berne passed away on Friday, January 28, 2012 at Swiss Village in Berne. She was born on March 1, 1922 in Adams County to John J. and Eltie LaVerne Rose Habegger. She was married on April 20, 1941 to Maurice Edward Miller.
She lived in Blue Creek Township all of her life as a homemaker. As a member of the Adams County Historical Society, she supplied many volunteer hours at the museum. She was a member of Salem Community Church (previously Salem UM) and its women's group, taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible school, and served in various leadership roles in the church.
She is survived by a son, Roger D. Miller of Berne, formerly of Fort Wayne; daughter, Nancy Rose (Don) Egley of Decatur; two granddaughters, Kami R. Miller (Ed) Ulmer of Henniker, New Hampshire; and Mary Jo "Jody" Egley (Quinn) Hirschy of Fort Wayne; twin sister, Elsie Affolder of Berne; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Wayne Edward Miller; two brothers, Ralph and Howard Habegger; and sister, Marjorie Daughtery.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 30 and one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. funeral service on Tuesday, January 31 at the Swiss Village Chapel in Berne. Officiating will be Pastor James Compton and Pastor Anita Rediger. Burial will take place at the Backesto (Springhill) Cemetery in rural Berne.
