Edward L. Summers, 98, of Decatur died at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 8, 2012 at his residence. He was born on June 20, 1914 in Decatur to Lloyd E. and Rose E. (Hoffman) Summers. He was married on August 4, 1948 to Kathryn L. Reef.
He is survived by a son, Kermit Summers of Decatur; daughter, Judy (John) Knaupp of Rickreall, Oregon; brother, R. Thomas Summers of Fort Wayne; and sister, Evelyn (Allen) Felt of Hoagland.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on July 27, 1992; two brothers, Walter and James Summers; and three sisters, Mary Johnson, Martha Morris, and Dorothy Lunn.
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 5:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11 at the Zwick and Jahn Funeral in Decatur. Funeral services will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 12 at the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. Ken Hogg. Burial will take place at Decatur Cemetery in Decatur.
