Glen D. Strahm, 81 of Monroe passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at his residence. He was born on June 20, 1932 in Adams County to Sylvan and Lydia (Brunner) Strahm. He was married on August 23, 1952 to Elizabeth (Betsy) Johnston.
He was a member of St. Luke Community Church, where he was involved as an elder, deacon and trustee. He was a farmer and mechanic for Reisen & Smith Chrysler, Walt Motor Sales and Johns Auto Sales. He was a member of the Wheels of Yesterday, the Maumee Valley Antique Steam and Gas Association, the Old-Fashioned Farmers Association of Van Wert, the Tri-State Engine Club and the Brown County Antique Machinery Association, National Massey Collectors Association and the Indiana Massey Collectors Association. He served his country in the United States Army.
He is survived by his wife of Monroe; son, Larry (Karen) Strahm of Canton, Michigan; daughter, Kathy Strahm (Lucie Carmichael) of South Burlington, Vermont; sister, Velma (Jim) Weaver of Monroe; and two grandchildren, Lauren and Jordyn Strahm.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant sister.
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 15 at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the 10:00 a.m. funeral on Friday, August 16 at St. Luke Community Church. Officiating will be Pastor Mike Wertenberger. Burial will be at St. Luke Cemetery.
Military graveside rites will be provided by American Legion Post 43 Color Guard.
Memorials may be made to St. Luke Church or Family LifeCare-Hospice.
