Henry J. Shetler
Henry J. Shetler, 86, of Berne passed away at 2:55 a.m. on Monday, January 7, 2013 at his home. He was born on November 5, 1926 in Adams County to Jacob and Amanda (Hershberger) Shetler. He was married on November 3, 1949 to Marie Hilty.
He was a member of the Old Order Amish and was a minister in the church for 58 years. He was a farmer.
He is survived by his wife; son, Melvin (Marie) Shetler of Berne; three brothers, Andy Shetler of Monroe; Val Shetler of Berne; and Mose Shetler of LaGrange; two sisters, Martha Hilty; and Fannie Hilty, both of Berne; nine grandchildren, Rhonda (Andy) Hilty; Arlene (Amos) Eicher; Mervin (Mary) Shetler; Norman (Elma) Shetler; Lisa (Paul) Eicher; Stephen Shetler; Rose Marie Shetler; and Melvin Shetler, Jr., all of Berne; and Laura (Mose) Hilty of Monroe; and 42 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister; and five brothers.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 8 and from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 9 at his home, 555W 350S, Berne. Funeral services will be at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 10 at his home. Officiating will be Bishop Marvin Hilty. Burial will take place at Schwartz Cemetery.
