Jessie S. King, 90, of Berne passed away at 2:29 a.m. on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at Adams Memorial Hospital in Decatur. She was born on July 9, 1922 in Adams County to Rufus and Mary (Binegar) Stauffer. She was married to Basil King.
She attended Lutheran Church in Bluffton. She graduated from Hartford School. She lived many years in Dayton, Ohio and later moved to Wells County. She was a homemaker and enjoyed traveling, pottery making, and was a member of the Wells County Homemakers Extension Club.
She is survived by a son, Mark King of Dayton; daughter, Joan Cribbs of Boise, Idaho; sister, Ruth Pace of Marion; sister-in-law, Judy Stauffer of Berne; and two granddaughters, Megan and Amanda.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2004; and two brothers, Eugene and Hugh “Abe” Stauffer.
Visitation will be two hours prior to the 1:00 p.m. funeral service on Saturday, October 6 at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home in Berne. Officiating will be Pastor Max Haines. Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in Linn Grove.
Memorials may be made to the Swiss Village Samaritan Fund.
