John D. Pyle

John D. Pyle, 61, of Geneva passed away at 6:31 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at the Adams Memorial Hospital in Decatur. He was born on Tuesday, May 22, 1951 in Portland to John George and Helen Juanita (Crawmer) Pyle. He was married on Saturday, November 13, 1971 in Berne to Cynthia M. Zuercher.
He was a 1969 graduate of Bryant High School. He worked for Fleetwood 44 in Decatur for the past 30 years. He was president of the VFW Men's Auxiliary Post 6751 in Geneva, a 30 year member of the Moose Lodge in Decatur, and the Berne American Legion Post #468 Color Guard. He loved country music, was an avid NASCAR and Colts fan, loved the New Corydon area, and loved to cut firewood. He dearly enjoyed his family and friends very much.
He is survived by his wife of Geneva; two daughters, Sara M. Haines of Geneva; and Deanna S. Hackman of Berne; five sisters, Norma Smitley; and Thelma Kongar, both of Dunkirk; Jenny Schisler of Pennville; Roberta (Larry) Maloney of Linn Grove; and Diana (Don) Illiff of Indianapolis; four brothers, Don (Beverly) Salmon; and Bob (Freda) Pyle, both of Berne; Jim (Alice) Pyle of Bradenton, Florida; and Bill (Wanda) Pyle of Celina, Ohio; four grandsons, Shelby D. Barker; Shea M. Pyle; Sabastian J. Hackman; and Ethan Reiley; granddaughter, Tori Reiley; extended family, Cari Reiley; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, John C. Pyle, and three sisters, June Hough; Imogene Hart; and Maxine Davis.
Visitation will be four hours prior to the 7:00 p.m. funeral service on Saturday, May 11 at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home, 100 N. Washington St., Geneva. Officiating will be Pastor Mike Wenger. Burial will be at a later date at the Daugherty Cemetery in Bryant.
