John M. Butcher

John M. Butcher, 61, of Geneva passed away at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Adams Memorial Hospital in Decatur. He was born on Friday, October 19, 1951 in Jay County to Elmo J. and Ruth C. (Ineichen) Butcher.
He was a graduate of Portland High School and Vincennes University. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed flying as a pilot, and he formerly managed the Vincennes Airport. He worked as a rural mail carrier for Huntington County until he retired.
He is survived by his brother, Larry E. Butcher (companion, Susan Conner) of Greentown; sister, Sharon (Byron) Blankenbaker of Pennville; six nephews, Mark Butcher of Greenfield; Brian Butcher; and Jay Butcher, both of Greentown; Barry Blankenbaker of Pennville; Dean Blankenbaker of Bakersfield, California; and Ty Blankenbaker of Brownsburg; and niece, Rita Dunn of Portland.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the 6:00 p.m. funeral service on Tuesday, December 11 at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home, 100 N. Washington St., Geneva. Officiating will be family members. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Geneva.
