Joseph F. Kohne
Joseph Francis Kohne, 73, of Monroe passed away on Friday, May 30, 2014 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. He was born on August 24, 1940 in Decatur to William and Elizabeth (Kintz) Kohne. He was married on February 10, 1962 to Karen K. Zimmerman.
He was a 1958 graduate of Decatur Catholic High School and served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was a self-employed farmer. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Msgr. J.J. Seimetz Council 864. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 43.
He is survived by his son, Patrick J. (Deb) Kohne of Berne; two daughters, Lisa A. (Brent) Stetler of Monroe; and Lori L. Kohne of Kenia, Arkansas; brother-in-law, Jeff (Weeze) Zimmerman of Decatur; two sisters, Rosie Eller; and Theresa (Melvin) McBarnes, both of Decatur; four grandchildren, Ashley (James) Scheumann; Josh Stetler; and Nick and Jon Kohne; and two great-grandchildren, Jamison and Jace Scheumann.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on May 24, 2000; two brothers, James and Paul Kohne; and a sister, Betty Zent.
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3 at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home with a reciting of the Holy Rosary at 1:30 p.m. A 9:20 a.m. prayer service will be held on Wednesday, June 4 at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. Officiating will be Father David Voors. Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church or to the American Legion Post 43 Color Guard.
