Mabel Frances Shoemaker, 90, of Bluffton passed away at 4:05 p.m. on Monday, July 22, 2013 at Christian Care Retirement Community in Bluffton. She was born on April 26, 1923 in Penn Township, Jay County to Frank and Zorpha (Pensinger) Ireland. She was married on April 1, 1945 in Pennville to Glen Dale Shoemaker.
She was a former resident of Bryant until moving to Bluffton three years ago. She was a 1941 graduate of Poling High School in Jay County. She was a homemaker and worked for 10 years at Caylor-Nickel Clinic in Bluffton. She attended Bryant Wesleyan Church in Bryant.
She is survived by a son, Steve (Janey) Shoemaker of Geneva; two daughters, Joyce E. (Denny) Young of Farmington Hills, Michigan; and Cynthia R. (Tim) Morris of Portland; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on November 19, 2012; brother, Willard Ireland; and sister Catherine Reitenour.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 25 at Goodwin-Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel, 3220E SR 124, Bluffton and one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. funeral service on Friday, July 26 at Bryant Wesleyan Church, 209 Hendricks St., Bryant. Officiating will be Pastor Paul VanCise and Pastor Steve Boardman. Burial will be at Alberson Cemetery in Adams County.
