Marguerite L. Von Gunten
Marguerite L. "Kitty" Von Gunten, 92, of Berne, went to be with her heavenly father on her 92nd birthday, Sunday, October 7, 2012. She was born October 7, 1920 to Frank and Joanna (Suman) Kitson. She married Paul Von Gunten on September 12, 1941.
She was a member of the First Mennonite Church where she taught Sunday school, was a member of the Women in Mission, and was on the charter committee that started children’s church. She was an elementary secretary and later treasurer for South Adams Schools for many years. She and her husband volunteered at Camp Gilead in Florida for 20 years and she was also a Cub Scout leader. She especially enjoyed her grand and great-grandchildren, crocheting, needlepoint and traveling.
She is survived by her husband; sons, Stephen (Alona) Von Gunten of Toledo, Ohio; Ronald (Lois) Von Gunten of Vermillion, Ohio; Lee (Carla) Von Gunten of Bluffton; a daughter, Ruth (Arland) Rinehard of Bluffton; a sister, Patricia Brunnegraff of Coshocton, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and step mother Thelma Kitson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers Herbert and Lloyd Kitson.
Visitation is Friday, October 12 from 3-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. funeral service on Saturday, October 13 at Swiss Village chapel. Officiating are Pastors Jerry Flueckiger and Jeff Linthicum. Burial will be at the MRE Cemetery in Berne.
Preferred memorials are to the First Mennonite Church.
