Marie Yoder Thornburg, 88, of Decatur died on Friday, April 25, 2014 at Woodcrest Nursing Center in Decatur. She was born on April 11, 1926 in Decatur to Ross and Almira (Brown) LaTurner.
She formerly attended Berne Evangelical Mennonite Church. She was a member of the VFW and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Avon Park, Florida. She worked at the old Pioneer restaurant in Decatur and retired from the Sandwich Depot Restaurant in Avon Park, Florida.
She is survived by her son, Jeffrey (Linda) Yoder of Decatur; three daughters, Carolyn (James) Baumer of Monroe; Cathy Plasterer of Decatur; and Karen (James) Crandall of Columbia City; 12 grandchildren; 21 great- grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild due in June.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James R. Yoder; husband, Harry “Dave” Thornburg; daughter, Vickie Hurst; two sons-in-law, Dan Plasterer; and Steve Hurst; two brothers; three sisters; and a granddaughter.
Visitation will be four and a half hours prior to the 7:30 p.m. funeral service on Wednesday, April 30 at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home in Decatur. Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 1 at the Evangelical Church Cemetery in Berne.
