Ruben M. Schwartz, 70, of Berne passed away at 8:35 a.m. on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at his residence. He was born on Thursday, May 20,1943 in Adams County to Jacob E. and Mary (Miller) Schwartz. He was married on October 24, 1963 to Ada E. Wickey.
He was a member of Old Order Amish.
He is survived by his wife of Berne; son, Leander A.R. (Mandy E.) Schwartz of Berne; six daughters, Lucy A.R. (Jacob E.R.) Girod; and Judy A.R. (James N.) Girod, both of Berne; Ruth A.R. (Reuben E.J.) Schwartz; Elma A.R. (Enos E.J.) Schwartz; and Ada A.R. (William L.) Christner, all of Bryant; and Mary A.R. (Solomn S.) Wickey of Auburn; eight brothers, Raymond M. Schwartz; Nathaniel M. Schwartz; Lee M. Schwartz; Jacob X. Schwartz; William M. Schwartz; Jonas M. Schwartz; Enos M. Schwartz; and Joe M. Schwartz; seven sisters, Lizzie Neuenschwander; Lucy Zehr; Edith Eicher; Rosie Hilty; Maryann Schwartz; Katie Schwartz; and Martha Schmit; 74 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Atlee M. Schwartz; and Menno M. Schwartz
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26 and from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 27 at his residence, 5165S 100E, Berne. Funeral services will be at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, June 28 also at his residence. Officiating will be Bishop Henry M. Schwartz. Burial will be at Schwartz Cemetery in Monroe.
