Sally S. Alspaugh
Sally S. Alspaugh, 66, a resident of Ossian, died at 11:38 p.m. on Sunday, August 1, 2010 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne after an illness of 12 years.
She was born on December 16, 1943 to B.L. “Rollie†and Mable I. (Rupright) Imel. She was married on October 30, 1960 to Heber “Ed†Alspaugh.
She was a homemaker. She was a dynamic Christian, and an active member of Common Ground Church; and the Soul group at the church. She was known as Doctor Alspaugh. And also known by her grandchildren as “Mema,†“Grandma Sassie,†and “DamMa.†She was known as Doctor Mom.
She is survived by her husband; one daughter, Collette (Jerry) Hurst of Decatur; two sons, Curt (Carla) Alspaugh of Craigville; and Clark (Machelle) Alspaugh of Decatur; twin daughters, Colleen (Jim) Cole; and Claudine (Josh) Girard, both of Decatur; two sisters, Marilyn Bell of Ossian; and Shirley (Joe) Pfister of Fort Wayne; three brothers, Jim T. (Shirley) Imel of Fort Wayne; Robert (Sandra) Imel of Uniondale: and Dave (Sharon) Imel of Bluffton; eleven grandchildren, Celeste Rupel; Cody, Caleb, Chris and Cy Hurst; Brittany and Brenna Alspaugh; Chance and Callager Cole; and Carston and Brant Girard; two great-grandchildren, Easton Hurst and Babybean Rupel.
Visitation is from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 4 at the Common Ground Church, and one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. service on Thursday, at the church. Officiating are Rev. Kevin Stirratt and Rev. Matt Moore.
