Sara Lucile Collier, 99, of Decatur passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at Swiss Village Nursing Home in Berne. She was born on January 28, 1914 in Cambridge, Nebraska to Felton B. and Lucile E. (Perry) Moore. She was married on June 12, 1943 to C. Doyle Collier.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church since 1947. She was involved in the Shakespeare Club, Mother’s Study Club, Adams County Hospital Auxiliary, chairman of the Girl Scout Council, chairman of the Adams County Cancer Society, and a member of the Psi Iota Xi Sorority. She was a homemaker, teacher, and secretary for Collier Insurance Agency. She also wrote informational brochures for the Extension Office in Nebraska.
She is survived by two sons, David L. (Sandra) Collier; and Richard D. (Nancy) Collier, both of Decatur; daughter, Cynthia (John) Painter of Fort Wayne; sister, Virginia Holzer of Minneapolis, Minnesota; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on September 30, 1998; two brothers, Kevin and Perry Moore; and two sisters, Kay Ward; and Marge Carson.
Visitation will be from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 18 at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the 10:00 a.m. funeral service on Monday, August 19 at First United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Pastor Amy Covington and Pastor Harold Klinker. A private family burial will be at Decatur Cemetery.
