Thelma M. Berkshire
Thelma M. Berkshire, 79, of Decatur passed away at 3:15 p.m. on Friday, August 9, 2013 at Woodcrest Nursing Center in Decatur. She was born on October 1, 1933 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to James Civiley and Lucinda Mae (Cheek) McGraw. She was married on May 31, 1953 to James W. Berkshire.
She was a homemaker. She formerly attended the Decatur Church of Christ.
She is survived by three sons, Timothy J. (Cathy) Berkshire of Decatur; Thomas Lynn (Sharon) Berkshire of Greensburg; and Terry Richard (Mary) Berkshire of Garrett; twin sister, Velma “Tommy” Dean of Casa Grande, Arizona; seven grandchildren, Mike (Andrea) Berkshire; Nick Berkshire; Jeff (Brandi) Berkshire; Stephanie Berkshire; Amanda (Vince) Milholland; Kasey (Butch) Barber ; and Allison (Paul) Bruns; two step-grandchildren, Stephanie (Russ) Smith; and Jeremy Steen; nine great-grandchildren and one on the way; and eight step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on February 15, 2009; and two brothers, George “Gene” McGraw; and James A. McGraw; and a half-brother, Bill Campbell.
Visitation was from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 12 at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 13 at the Woodcrest Porter Auditorium in Decatur. The funeral service took place at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 13 in the auditorium. Burial took place at Decatur Cemetery.
