Weldon A. Steiner
Weldon A. Steiner, 92, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, December 2, 2013 at his home. He was born on September 15, 1921 on a farm near Berne to Oscar and Amanda (Baumgartner) Steiner. He was known affectionately as Arvine in his youth. He was married on June 29, 1947 to Arminda “Mindy” Frauhiger.
He graduated from Monroe High School in 1940 and served in the Army Medical Corp. in the Asiatic Pacific Theater during WWII. After graduating from International Business College, he worked for Anthony Wayne Corp, a real estate development company, as an accountant. He retired in 2001 after 51 years of service as their treasurer. He was a 60-year member of First Missionary Church and active in the Christian Homemakers class, where he had served as their class president and treasurer for many years. He faithfully attended and served at Senior Fellowship. Once homebound he was kept linked to his church family by the Sunshine Network. He and his wife enjoyed ice skating and making ice cream with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Susan Steiner; and Ann Acosta; son, Alan Steiner; and granddaughter, Allison Acosta, all of Fort Wayne.
He was proceeded in death by his parents; four brothers; and four sisters.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 6 and one hour prior to the 2:00 p.m. funeral service on Saturday, December 7 at D.O. McComb & Sons Foster Park Funeral Home, 6301 Fairfield Avenue, Fort Wayne. Officiating will be Rev. Robert Martin. Burial will be at Covington Memorial Gardens.
