Batt holds Winchester to one-hit Scott Hoeppner

It’s kind of funny that a guy named Batt was able to keep Winchester from using theirs, but that’s how it worked out Tuesday evening at Harry F. Anderson Field as South Adams senior Nick Batt helped the Starfires notch their first win of the season with a 9-0 shutout of the visiting Golden Falcons.
Batt went six strong innings after a bit of a shaky start, and held Winchester scoreless while allowing just one hit. He issued two walks in the top of the first inning, but gave up just one the rest of the way and finished with 11 strikeouts. He threw 90 pitches – 54 for strikes.
