Braves retake command in rivalry with Jets
Bellmont staked a 33-point advantage before Adams Central scored its first match victory and rolled to a convincing 60-14 win over the Jets in varsity wrestling in Monroe Tuesday night.
Bellmont’s win comes on the heels of Adams Central’s streak-ending win over the Braves last season, one that ended a 22-year run of dominance by Bellmont in the annual meeting between county rivals.
The Braves (6-2) shot out to a commanding start, winning five of the first six matches by fall. Isaiah Bollenbacher broke that string with a pin in the heavyweight match for the Jets, but another run of victories made it very clear who the better team was this time.
