Bruins pull away from Starfires late

HARTFORD CITY – Blackford sophomore Lauren Godfrey buried a pair of 3-pointers in the fourth quarter to give the Bruins some breathing room Saturday night as they pulled away from a South Adams team still looking for its first win of the season.
Godfrey hit four 3-pointers in the contest and led Blackford with 16 points, but none of those were bigger than the back-to-back triples she hit in the fourth quarter to help the Bruins post the 44-35 victory.
South Adams got within a point at 30-29 when Dzejna Ahmetovic scored to open the fourth quarter. A Zoie Mann free throw gave Blackford a two-point advantage before Godfrey went to work.
