Central falters late at New Haven
Adams Central failed to hang onto a lead going into the fourth quarter and dropped its third straight loss Tuesday night in varsity girls’ basketball, losing at New Haven 51-45.
The Jets (2-5) led 26-22 after three quarters, but were outscored 29-19 over the final eight minutes. New Haven made up a large amount of its deficit with a 19-of-30 showing at the foul line. Adams Central was 7-of-23 at the foul stripe.
Central trailed by three at halftime, but climbed in front with a solid third quarter. The Jets held New Haven to just four points in the third period.
New Haven managed just 10 points over the middle two periods, before exploding offensively down the stretch.<...
