Central overcomes slow start
After allowing three runs in the bottom of the third inning, Adams Central found itself in an early hole but stormed back late to win its annual grudge match in varsity softball with county rival Bellmont. Central outscored the host Squaws 6-1 over the final four innings and posted a 6-4 victory.
Sydnee Peterson settled down after the rocky first to pitch a complete game for the Jets. She struck out five and did not issue a walk in the outing, allowing seven hits and four earned runs.
The Jets pelted Bellmont with 10 singles, including a 2-run base knock by Alexa Baller in the top of the fourth that knotted the score at 3-3 for Central.
