Churubusco held Maverick Baumer in check for most of 30 minutes, but the Adams Central big man came through with some clutch play late and helped the Jets to a 39-34 victory in the first round of Sectional 36 action Tuesday night at South Adams.
Baumer found the net with a 3-pointer with 2:31 left in the fourth quarter, breaking a 30-30 tie, and Central never trailed again.
Baumer was held well below his season average (18.3 ppg) with just 10 points, but seven of those came in the fourth quarter and Adams Central in dire need of an answer for a suffocating defense deployed by the Eagles.
