Central wrestlers top Starfires
Adams Central opened with three pins and then rolled out to a huge lead due to a short South Adams lineup and defeated the visiting Starfires 51-27 in varsity wrestling Thursday in Monroe.
The win evens Adams Central’s season record at 1-1 (also 1-1 in the Allen County Athletic Conference, while South Adams slips to 2-5 and 0-2 in the ACAC.
Andy Oliver put Adams Central out to an early lead with a second period pin over Josh Lahr at 126 pounds. Hunter Bates followed with a pin over the Starfires’ Skyler Shrout as the clock expired on the first period in the 132-pound match, and Derek Ellinger scored a fall in 1:55 in his 138-pound match against South Adams’ Matt Nussbaum...
