Eicher excels with resounding speed
For Adams Central athlete Stephen Eicher, the fact that he has no hearing is not a hindrance but a challenge and an opportunity to prove to others who have special things to overcome that it can be done successfully.
Eicher, who inherited a family trait of deafness, has a deaf father and two deaf sisters. But he has channeled the situation into that which has brought self-confidence and self-esteem to his life.
“When I came to school, I learned how to sign,” said Eicher. “In more ways than one, I was able to reach out and help others. I was the first deaf child in our family to attend school, so I was able to go home and teach it to my dad and sisters.”
