Garrett gets by South Adams girls
GARRETT – Brandi Dawson pumped in 28 points to take over the career girls’ scoring record at Garrett and led the Railroaders to a 53-41 victory over South Adams during the first round of the Allen County Athletic Conference tournament Tuesday night.
Dawson scored 12 points in the opening quarter to help Garrett (14-0) take an 18-6 lead at the end of eight minutes. Dawson buried a jumper in the first quarter, giving her five points and one more than Garrett’s previous career leader, Kelly Surfus.
Surfus was present at the contest and took part in a post-game celebration honoring Dawson, who finished the game at 1,266 career points.
