Isch wins Monroe Lions race

Posted on Jun 9, 2010

Seventeen year-old Eric Isch, of rural Geneva, emerged from a pack of 112 participants to win the Monroe Lions Club 5K race Saturday in Monroe. Isch finished the five-kilometer race in 17:33, 37 seconds ahead of the race runner-up – Nathan Rupp of rural Berne.
The race field was spared Saturday’s downpours, as rain stopped minutes before the race, but picked up again after the awards ceremony finished. The humid conditions did slow the field a bit.
Denise Conrad, of Decatur, was the top female runner in 20:11, beating Linn Grove’s Maddie Moore by 70 seconds.
The race was the second in a series of six races in the Adams County Community Foundation’s Run/Walk Challenge. The next race in the series is the First Bank of Berne Swiss Days Race. Entry forms for that race are available on the bank’s website. The Swiss Days Race will also be the last chance for participants to enter the ACCF Challenge that have not already participated in one of the first two events.
There are currently 44 entries in the ACCF Challenge, but several people have run in the first two events without signing up for the series. Completing four of the events will automatically qualify them for the series, however they may not receive a series T-shirt (that depends upon availability). The series fee, with ACCF shirt, is now $53.
