A last minute surge by Adams Central fell short as county rival Bellmont defeated the Flying Jets in Monroe, 58-54, before a noisy house at Adams Central Saturday.
The Braves led the Jets 48-40 with 4:52 remaining in the final quarter, but AC refused to go away.
Bellmont maintained its seven to eight point margin but in the final two minutes the Jets made another surge. With the Braves on top, AC’s Hayden Black drove in to score and drew a foul with 37.7 remaining in the game. Black connected on his free throw to close the gap to 54-51, Bellmont.
