Alex Byerly and Blade Kable both reached double digits scoring and led Adams Central to a 46-38 victory over Parkway in varsity boys’ basketball Monday night in Rockford.
Both Byerly and Kable were dialed in from long range, sinking three 3-pointers each. The Jets (8-6) were 8-of-22 overall from 3-point range.
Kable led all players with 17 points while Byerly finished with 14.
The Jets had a little trouble shaking Parkway at the outset, but found themselves leading 16-5 by the end of the first quarter. That big early lead carried AC, which outscored the Panthers by four points over the next two quarters.
Central upped its lead to 27-14 by halftime and threatened to extend it to 20 in the third quarter. The Jets took a 39-24 lead into the fourth quarter.
Hayden Black was held to just two points through three quarters, but sank three late free throws and finished with five. Anthony Spangler ripped the cords for a 3-pointer and added a free throw for four points. David Fox and Nick Baumer both finished with three points.
Parkway won the junior varsity contest.
