Late outburst too late for Starfires
HARTFORD CITY – A barrage of 3-point shots from Scott Hoeppner and Dustin Wanner nearly helped South Adams overcome a horrendous start to its varsity boys’ basketball game at Blackford Thursday night, but the fourth quarter comeback attempt fell short as the Starfires lost 61-51.
After scoring just 22 points through three quarters, Hoeppner and Wanner sparked a 29-point fourth quarter for South Adams as it tried to erase a deficit that grew to as many as 20 points early in the fourth period. Hoeppner hit three fourth quarter triples, and Wanner also meshed three as the two combined for 22 points over the final eight minutes.
