Liechty, Starfire boys win invitational titles

With nearly half of the top nine runners all hailing from South Adams, the host Starfires ran away with the boys’ team title Saturday at the South Adams Small School Cross Country Invitational.
South Adams avenged a four-point loss to Frankton a week earlier at the New Haven Classic, beating the Eagles 46-59 for the team championship. Adams Central was fourth with 184 points.
The girls’ title went to Northfield with 75 points. South Adams took second with 108 and Adams Central was fourth with 141.
Evan Liechty made a hard charge in the final 50 meters to edge Northfield’s Caleb Augustus for the individual title. Liechty posted a season best 16:21 win...
