Monroe Grain takes Major League title
Monroe Grain poured on a load of late offense, scoring 10 unanswered runs over the final two innings and beat Decatur Dental 11-5 Thursday night to claim the Monroe Major League tournament championship at Don Ray Park.
Ian Wellman settled down after allowing two runs in his first inning of relief and kept Decatur Dental quiet through the fifth and sixth as his team mounted its comeback. Wellman got the win, striking out four and walking four over three innings.
Jordan Biberstein had a double, single and three RBI for MG. Luke Voirol came through big late with a bases-loaded triple. David Fox singled twice and Lance Busse drove in two runs.
