Northfield ace stymies Central offense
KOKOMO – It looked like the response was coming.
Northfield (29-3) had scored five early runs and had Adams Central blanked through two innings, but the Jets were sitting with bases loaded in the bottom of the third inning and Dalton Combs strode into the left side batter’s box.
“It’s the situation you want, and with the short fence in right field it was the guy we wanted at the plate,” said Central coach Dave Neuenschwander.
Ryan Keaffaber vs. Dalton Combs. The perfect situation for the perfect storm, but the clouds were broken by a Keaffaber fastball and the inning ended without a run coming home.
It was that kind of day for Adams Central.
