PORTLAND – Jay County held South Adams scoreless through the first quarter, held the Starfires to just two points in the third quarter and pasted a tough 67-19 on the Starfires Saturday evening in Portland in varsity boys’ basketball.
The Patriots, owners of the No. 2 ranked defense in the state (giving up just 34.25 points per game), scored the game’s first 22 points, leading 22-0 after one quarter. The efficient Jay County squad finished the night 25-of-31 from the field, an 81 percent clip, and got a strong effort from junior Brock McFarland.
McFarland finished 9-of-11 from the floor and hit all four of his free throw attempts for a game high 23 points....
