South Adams settles for disappointing split
South Adams was poised for a two-game sweep of Eastbrook Saturday when the wheels fell off in the top of the seventh inning in game two of a soggy doubleheader.
The Starfires, winners of the first game 8-3, were in front of game two 4-2 heading into the top of the seventh inning, but the Panthers plated seven runs to escape with a 9-4 victory.
The Stars (5-7) held a 4-0 lead after two innings in the second game, scoring three in the first on a sacrifice bunt by Dustin Wanner, a single by Heath Moser and when Andrew Smith was hit by a pitch â€“ all with bases loaded. Wanner drove in T.J. Burnfield in the second as South Adams ran its lead to four runs.
