Starfire boys run away with own invitational
South Adams put the first three runners through the chute and easily won the South Adams cross country invitational high school boys’ team title Saturday, beating second place Northfield 44-125.
Freshman Bailey McIntire took the individual title for South Adams, just the second Starfire to do so in the 11-year history of the event (Evan Liechty is the other in 2011). McIntire crossed the finish line of the 5-kilometer race just a step ahead of teammate Sawyer Miller in 16:31.52. Miller was second in 16:31.56 and Brody Shane finished third in 16:38.34.
The team title was the fourth for South Adams at its own invitational, and its third championship in the past four years.
